We are all constantly searching for more meaning in our lives, we want to leave a legacy. The legacy we create is how you live every day, moment by moment, in the many communities and Sisterhoods your heart calls home.

Sharing who you are with people you love is the best way to leave a lasting, beautiful legacy that people will talk about for generations.

Our guest today is so special because she is the embodiment of this concept. An immigrant from Jamaica who came to the States to grow her opportunity and make her many communities back home proud, she has a legacy anyone would be incredibly proud of.

In this episode of The PurposeGirl Podcast, I’m fortunate to be joined by Janet Autherine, the Founder of The Island Mindful Path to Transformation, and CEO of Autherine Publishing. She is the author of 4 books that are focused on empowering women and children, and her insights have been featured in national media, such as Forbes, Medium, and many highly-rated podcasts.

Janet shares with us how combining her hopeful and optimistic Jamaican roots with all she’s learnt along her mindfulness journey was key to find her very own way of shaping her legacy.

In this episode, Janet and I discuss the following:

  • The incredible power of community and Sisterhood.
  • How important and powerful it is to say the names of the women in our lineage when we speak of them.
  • That there is so much power in valuing the things we are good at – and how that helps others around us.
  • How we can use mindfulness to connect with who you really are.
  • How to discover our Legacy and why our story and voice always matter.
